The Multicultural Day will be set up as it has been in the past. More information will be sent home in the next few weeks. Just reminder that Spring Break is from March 17th to March 25th and school is not in session. As we finish term 2 I will be sending home an update as to how your child is doing via e-mail. If you have any questions or concerns when you receive this information or before please feel free to contact me through e-mail (ntelford@sd73.bc.ca) or by phone (250-376-6224). WELCOME BACK and to 2012! Students have the very busy month of January to look forward to and many activities that they will all be involved in. The beginning of the month brings Math Games to the school. Under the leadership of the grade 6 students the school will be involved in coming to the gym over a period of two days and participating in stations that involve a variety of math games. This allows all students to learn to think 'outside the box' as well as see how much fun math can be. Secondly, there is a Young People's Concert on January 10th. If you still need to pay for this show please see Mrs. Burback in the office. Thirdly, all intermediate students are being given the opportunity to go tubing at Harper Mountain on January 13th. Only students who have paid will be able to participate. All money and forms are due by January 11th at the latest so we can put our final numbers together. Last, but not least, Mrs. Telford and Mrs. Leonard's classes will be spending the afternoon at the Canada games Pool on January 27th. Please make sure your child comes prepared with their bathing suit and a towel. I am looking forward to a great month! Once again, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at the school by phone at (250) 376-6224 or by e-mail to "ntelford@sd73.bc.ca". Thanks again for your continued support. Christmas Season Update 11/22/2011
Students have had a very successful term 1 and have now moved into term 2. I have sent an update about your child to you via e-mail. If you have not received it please let me know and I can get one out to you ASAP. As term 2 has begun, students are now working on their Christmas Play. This play will be performed on two dates, Dec. 8th and Dec. 9th. Please feel free to join us at either of our afternoon concerts from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. If you have any questions about the performances please e-mail me and let me know. As well, students are in the midst of finishing their Junior Achievement Program. This program will allow the students to set-up and run a Christmas Store. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered some of their time for this project. If you would like to be involved please let me know. More parents are always welcome. I am looking forward to a very busy and productive term 2. If you have any questions or concerns about your child please phone the school to speak to me, e-mail me, or we can set up a parent/teacher interview at a convenient time. Our next early closure for parent'teacher interviews is December 2nd. If you would like an appointment on this day please let me know so we can set up a time. Welcome to November 11/05/2011
This month promises to be a very busy and productive time. Just a reminder that I will be in touch with you about any concerns I may have about your child. If I do not contact you and you would like information about how your child is doing please feel free to contact me by phone or by e-mail. It is important that we keep the lines of communication open. This month students will be working on the Junior Achievement Program that will lead to our Christmas Store. The money raised through the store will be used for year end field trips. If you are able to help out please let me know. Students are in the midst of working on a fractions unit in Math. They are working on a Remembrance Day art project and in Language Arts they continue to work on building sentences and identifying sentence parts. The "Real Game" is in progress where students have been given a 'job', have created a home, have learned how to budget and are now planning a trip with friends in the class to see what it takes go somewhere. Hopefully this will encourage students to be more appreciative of what they have at home. Have a great week. Welcome 10/21/2011
Welcome to my new blog. Feel free to check it out as I slowly add to it. This week students will be attending their first Young People's Concert on Tuesday. Students need to ensure that they have paid their fee and sent in the permission slip so they are able to attend. If payment is not received your child will be unable to attend. Also on Friday students will be going swimming at the Canada Games Pool for the afternoon. On another note, I wanted to let parents know that there will not be formal report cards coming home this term. I will send out e-mails (or write a note for those of you who don't like e-mail), send home tests and assignments to get signed, keep you posted with any work that might be missing or late with the use of agendas, and give you a clear picture if your child is progressing steadily or needing some work in areas. If you have any questions or concerns, contact me anytime. These updates will come home periodically (definitely different from the usual 'send home at the end of November') and not at a specific time. I will endeavour to keep you as informed as I can so if you feel left out of the loop, please let me know. I will always make arrangements to meet with anyone who wants to. First Post! 10/21/2011
